My name is Katie Crumpton, and I am an illustrator local to the San Francisco Bay Area. I moved here from South Carolina in 2012 to pursue my art education at the Academy of Art University. I graduated in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in illustration.
Being an artist was the only thing I ever wanted to be. I’ve been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil, and I made my life decision when I was 5 years old. I was running around and playing in my mom’s backyard and that’s when it hit me. I knew from that moment that I was going to become a professional artist one day. My area of interest in art just got more specific as I got older.
My main area of interests are illustrating children’s books and creating designs and patterns for consumer products. While those two things are my primary focus, I do however love experimenting with different art projects. Animation is quite fun for me.
Drawing whimsical themes and adorable characters brings me so much joy, and I hope to bring happiness and inspiration to those who view my work. I'm inspired by nature, cute and quirky animals, dreams, music, movies, books, and I am very fond of magical themes.
I am a digital artist who likes to give my creations a traditional look. I use my ipad pro, apple pencil, and macbook to create my works. For the ipad I use the app Procreate and Astropad. I also have the Adobe Suite and use Photoshop and Illustrator. I use Adobe Animate for my animations, and Premiere Pro to do any art related video editing.
Being a digital artist is more convenient and efficient for me. I do occasionally pick up my watercolors when I’m in the mood for traditional mediums.
Since graduating I've been given many awesome opportunities such as being a part of the Artist in Residence program at Redbubble, illustrating a children’s book, and designing greeting cards for Group Greeting.
I am currently freelancing and working on personal projects. On many weekends I sell my work at local Bay Area craft fairs including TreasureFest.
Thank you for taking the time to view my work, I greatly appreciate it!
